TFT Breakdown: 1st Carousel
TFT is a game with a surprising amount of depth. From the intricacies of managing and properly utilizing your economy to the composition of your team, to positioning, there are multiple variables that should directly, and sometimes indirectly, influence your decision making at all times. In fact…
The items you receive in TFT are random by nature. Aside from the carousels that you get every six rounds, you have no real control over which items you will have be able to make specifically (You can’t make a GA if you never get a B.F. Sword). You do, however, have some amount of agency and control over what type of items you will have access to. For example, let’s say your first item is a chain vest. This means that, at the very least, one item that you will have in this game will be an armor defensive item by nature, regardless of what the item is specifically (Could be a Bramble Vest or a Frozen Heart depending on item drops). To go one step further, since having the chain vest is a known variable, you should begin thinking of comps and carries that can make use of chain vest based items.
Now, I do understand that even the carousel itself is random by nature. Even so, you oftentimes have a choice between two or three different items that you can, with some amount of confidence, choose from. The game has never been about having the best items or the most broken team comp in the current meta. It is about leveraging what the game gives you and understanding the different paths you have access to based off known information. The game isn’t nearly as random as it first appears. You have more control than you think.
